The new Dune movie will arrive in cinemas next year in November, but Frank Herbert’s fans will also have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic SF universe through a serial currently under WarnerMedia.
According to Variety.com, the series will be called Dune: The Sisterhood and will have the order of the Bene Gesserit sisters. The scenario, production and directing of the pilot episode will also be dealt with by Denis Villeneuve – also responsible for Dune’s cinematic release in 2020.
“Herbert’s novel, Dune, puts a magnificent future in which mankind has spread over the thousands of worlds in the Galaxy, all under the direction of an Emperor Padisah. The action in Dune: The Sisterhood unfolds in the same universe and explores the future through the eyes of a mysterious female order, Bene Gesserit. Because of their mind and body control skills, the Bene Gesserit sisters sneak through feudal intrigues and policies, looking at their own plans, which will lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis – known to its inhabitants as Dune, “mentions in a description of-of the series made by thehollywoodreporter.com.
“The Bene Gesserit sisters have always fascinated me. To base a TV series on this strong female order seemed to me not only relevant and inspirational but also a dynamic deployment of forces for TV production, “Villeneuve said.
The series will debut on the streaming channel of WarnerMedia, which will be released later this year.
