Absentia

“Absentia” with Stana Katic in the lead role, follows the story of the FBI agent Emily Bryne who, while investigating the case of a serial killer, disappears without a trace and is declared dead. Six years later, he is found in a forest cabin, barely surviving, with no memory of what happened to him. Once she returns home, she finds out that her husband, special agent Nick Durand (Patrick Heusinger), has remarried and her son is now raised by another woman. Emily wakes up soon to be involved in a new series of crimes.

In the season 2, following the pursuit and killing of the kidnapper, Emily strives to redefine her normality, both as a woman, as a mother, but also as a survivor of six years of physical and psyhic torture. Even as she tries to rebuild the relationship with her son, Flynn, Emily can not forget and escape the ghosts of the past. Thus, he co-ops Tommy Gibbs, a detective in the Boston police, in a secret investigation of her mysterious past. When the case takes a deadly turn, Emily risks everything to discover the truth and protect her family.

The detective series is produced for Sony Pictures Television (SPT) by Masha Productions and will be broadcast this spring on AXN and other Sony networks and platforms in Europe, Russia and Latin America. Produced and directed by Oded Ruskin (“False Flag”, “Beauty and the Baker”) with executive producers Stana Katic, Matt Cirulnick, Julie Glucksman and Maria Feldman (“False Flag”, “Homeland”), “Absence” was created by Gaia Violo and Matt Cirulnick, based on a pilot script written by Violo. Among the directors of the new season are Adam Sanderson and Kasia Adamik.

Together with Stana Katic and Patrick Heusinger (“Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back”), they reap the roles in the new season Cara Theobold (“Downton Abbey”), Neil Jackson (“Westworld,” “Welcome to Marwen” Bonnani (“False Flag”) and Paul Freeman (“The Dogs of War”).

Matthew Le Nevez (“The Widow”) and Natasha Little (“The Night Manager”) will join the second season distribution. Le Nevez is Cal Isaac, a former Navy SEAL officer full of optimism. Familiar with the demons that haunts Emily, Cal turns out to be a loyal and compassionate partner for the heroine of the series. Little will play the role of special agent Julianne Gunnarsen, a beautiful, fulfilled and enigmatic psychoanalyst of the FBI. It joins the FBI office in Boston after a powerful terrorist attack shakes the city.
