Brie Larson, Oscar winner, continues a year of events with a personal project, one in which he stands in front of and behind the room – the movie Unicorn Store. In the film he plays Samuel L. Jackson.
Brie Larson has already conquered the box office with the massive success of Captain Marvel and aims to repeat the experience in April with the premiere of Avengers: Endgame. Between these two Hollywood massive successes, Larson returns to her roots in the independent film world (taking the Oscar in 2016 for her room-length performance) with her first film, Unicorn Store.
A drama, Unicorn Store premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. The film will be globally watched thanks to Netflix.
Here’s the official synopsis offered by Netflix for Unicorn Store: After leaving the art university and starting a regular service, a daring painter (Larson) manages to fulfill his dream of adopting a unicorn.
Larson has managed to build a strong cast with her, including Samuel L. Jackson and Hamish Linklater, Joan Cusack and Bradley Whitford as her parents, as well as the relatively new Mamoudou you.
In his chronicle at the Toronto International Film Festival, critic David Ehrlich from IndieWire called the Unicorn Store as a story about the millennial generation, but one with a golden heart. There is a discerning sincerity directed by Larson, and every frame in this directorial debut suggests that Larson really wants to be a voice in the defense of the different and marginalized. ”
Unicorn Store is the first feature film with the script signed by Samantha McIntyre, married comedian script writer, with Judy Greer and Brett Gelman. Her script includes an encouraging motto: “Everybody needs a little magic in life. Even if they are adults.”
