Serkis was among the filmmakers chosen to direct the filming of “Venom” Part Two, a group that included Travis Knight (“Bumblebee”) and Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”).
Ruben Fleischer directed the first film in the series in 2018, but does not join the project because he is in post-production studio “Zombieland: Double Tap”.
Sony hopes to start shooting at “Venom 2” in the fall.
Kelly Marcel, known for “Saving Mr. Banks” (2013) wrote the screenplay.
“Venom”, from which Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson were cast, has generated $ 855 million in global revenue.
Serkis directed “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle” and “Breathe”, and Wyatt signed, among others, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” and “Captive State”.
