The announcement was made by Warner Bros., who hosted the casting, which is said to have included, among others, Ansel Elgort, Harry Styles and Miles Teller, informs The Guardian.

Butler, who starred in Nickelodeon and Disney Channel many years ago, debuted last year on Broadway in the show “The Iceman Cometh,” from which Denzel Washington is cast.

Austin Butler also made the announcement on Instagram, quoting a verse from Presley’s “Love Me Tender”: “You’ve made my life complete, and I love you so.”

Luhrmann, nominated for the Oscar-winning Oscar for “Moulin Rouge!”, Said: “I know I could not have done this film if the cast was not correct. I have searched in detail for an actor with the ability to evoke the natural movement and the voice qualities of the unequaled star, but also the artist’s vulnerability. ”

“After tests and workshops, I knew no doubt that I found someone who could embody the spirit of one of the most iconic musical figures in the world.”

The film tells Elvis Presley’s story from a two-decade relationship with Tom Parker’s manager, “The Colonel,” to be played by Tom Hanks.

The script was written by Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce.

Production will begin next year and shootings will take place in Queensland, Australia.

Austin Butler also starred in Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Do Not Die” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” released this year.
