Dexter Fletcher, will direct the next movie from the Sherlock Holmes franchise

Fletcher takes over from Guy Ritchie, who directed “Sherlock Holmes” (2009) and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (2011). Both were home-grown, generating $ 524 million, or $ 545.4 million worldwide.

British moviemaker Dexter Fletcher, known for “Eddie the Eagle” and “Rocketman,” will direct the next film from the Sherlock Holmes franchise, with Robert Downey Jr. again protagonist.

The third film in the Warner Bros. series is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 21, 2021.

Robert Downey Jr. will return to the role of the British detective, and Jude Law will portray him on his help, Dr. Watson.

Chris Brancato wrote the script, and Susan Downey, Joel Silver, and Lionel Wigram will be the producers of the feature.

The film will be a co-production Warner Bros. – Village Roadshow.

Fletcher, who took over as director of Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer was fired at the production stage, has signed the latest Rocketman, inspired by the life of musician Elton John.

For the directorial debut, Wild Bill (2011) received a BAFTA Award nomination and directed the adaptation for the major screens of the Sunshine on Leith (2013).
