Damon and Affleck will write the script together with Nicole Holofcener, according to Variety.
The story is placed in 14th century France. He has a man in the center who goes to war and when he comes back he discovers that a friend raped his wife. The woman is not believed by anyone, and the soldier appeals to the king of France and decides he wants to face the guilty man, this being the last duel legally sanctioned in France.
Scott, Damon and Affleck and Kevin Walsh will be producers.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck remarked in Good Will Hunting (1997, Gus Van Sant), where they played together and brought them an Oscar for the original screenplay. The two have collaborated for more than ten feature films, as producers and scriptwriters, and have starred together in films like “Dogma” and “Silent Bob Strike Back”.
For Damon, this will be the first collaboration with Scott from “The Martian” (2015).
The production period was not set, and Damon will shoot next month for “Stillwater” (Tom McCarthy).
