The company approved the script of Matthew Orton (Operation Finale, but also Battle of Britain, Ridley Scott’s next film) and will produce a live-action set in the medieval era.

The movie will be called Knights and will center “an ambitious and determined young woman who joins a knight in the mission of annihilating a dangerous artifact, which threatens to destroy the world if it gets into the hands of those who do not have it.” The project is still in the preliminary stage (the script is still in development), so it is difficult to say what will be the attraction points (famous actors, stake and scope of action) of the film, especially since it was announced for distribution in cinemas, not on the Disney + platform.

Disney is also working on a number of medieval-era productions, including The Merlin Saga, which could be directed by Ridley Scott, and the relaunch of The Sword in the Stone (after the 1963 animation, focusing on the relationship between Merlin and King Arthur; the movie will be released on Disney +).

Projects to be launched by the company by the end of this year include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (with the release on October 18), Frozen II (November 22) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20).
