In the FOX UpFronts 2019 panel, station representatives confirmed that the new season of the Empire series will be the last, with a 20-episode order placed.
Contrary to the opinions surrounding Jussie Smollett’s protagonists and even the involvement of the protagonists in their colleague’s controversy, Fox did not play the PR book for the evil of the root but decided to renew the Empire with new episodes, related to the season 6.
The decision to renew comes as a surprise even without considering those with Smollett, Empire going from series low to series low, more than two dropping vertically in ratings. For the moment, we do not know the order placed for season 6, the number of episodes we will most likely find at the UpFront of this month – Fox is scheduled for May 13th.
As far as Jussie is concerned, he announced after the renewal announcement that he was negotiated an extension of the contract for season 6 but at this time there are no plans for a return of Jamal in the current drama of the Lyon family. It remains to be seen how the story will continue, and whether the retarder will return with his family.
The current season in Empire will end next week on May 8th.
“We want to thank everyone on the show – Taraji, Terrence and the entire cast, as well as Lee, Danny, Brett, Sanaa, Brian, Francie, Dennis and their teams – all of whom have done a tremendous job this season. We know there are so many more stories to tell, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for Season 6.”
