Actor Ewan McGregor is preparing to lift the laser sword again in production for Disney +. The expansion of the Star Wars universe began with the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spin-off and the series The Mandalorian (which debuts on Disney + on November 12), and according to deadline.com, another series is in preparation, for which McGregor is in the process. is now negotiating the appearance in the legendary role of Obi-Wan Kenobi. As the project is in the preliminary stage, no details about the plot or production are known.
McGregor has played Obi-Wan in three of the Star Wars films – the prequel trilogy from The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005). He also had a voice cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).
In the original trilogy, the role of Obi-Wan – mentor of Luke Skywalker, who taught him the way of Jedi fighters – was played by Alec Guinness. Placed a few decades later, prequels with McGregor introduced Obi-Wan as a teacher and friend of Luke’s father Anakin Skywalker, who later became Darth Vader.
The Disney studios also considered a standalone movie with Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, it seems that the poor evolution at the box office of Solo: A Star Wars Story has made them change their minds, and the character’s new adventures have come to offer content to the company’s streaming service.
