The series is written by Carlton Cuse, executive producer of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Lost, and Jason Fuchs, who wrote “Wonder Woman.”

“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” originally an original comedy for the BBC radio, has been adapted several times for the big screen and the little screen.

In 1981, the novel was adapted in the BBC series with Simon Jones and David Dixon who played the protagonists. Disney, who recently bought Hulu’s majority shares, holds the rights to Adams’s novel and produced the 2005 release of Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent, Sam Rockwell, Mos Def and Zooey Deschanel.

The series follows the intergalactic adventures of Arthur Dent, who leaves the Earth after being destroyed by an alien race called Vogons. Throughout the journey, he meets many iconic characters, including Marvin Paranoid Android.
