The most recent film with Natalie Portman, Lucy in the Sky, is targeting the Oscar season with the release announced for October 2019, writes The Wrap.
In the film, Portman (now on screen in the drama Vox Lux), plays the role of a female astronaut named Lucy Cola, who returns to Earth after a space mission, but slowly begins to lose contact with the reality she knew. Lucy in the Sky also features Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Jon Hamm, and veteran Ellen Burstyn, and Legion series creator Noah Hawley appears as director.
Fox Searchlight Pictures is inspired by the case of NASA astronaut Lisa Nowak, arrested in 2007 for the attempted abduction of Colleen Shipman, U.S. captain. The Air Force, which was in a love affair with astronaut William Oefelein, with whom Nowak was in love with. The kidnapping was planned in the smallest detail, with Nowak carrying, on the day of the incident, a pistol, pepper spray, gloves.
The same weekend, at least in America, another three caliber films will be released, with potential for prizes, namely Joker, with Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role, The Current War, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Pain and Glory, the Cannes competitor of to Pedro Almodovar.
