With several movies inspired by comic books already in the pipeline, it seems that Margot Robbie is ready to continue the big-screen adaptations. The Australian actress and producer has already appeared in the role of Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad of 2016 and is set to reprise her role in Birds of Prey which will appear in February and in the sequel to The Suicide Squad in 2021. In addition to the role of the famous negative heroine, Robbie will give life to the character Tank Girl.
A beloved comic book character, Tank Girl appeared once again in 1995, but Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment production house is trying to give the idea a chance – one for today’s audience.
On Monday morning, Alan Martin, creator of Tank Girl, posted on Twitter that Robbie and her team acquired the rights to the character, continuing: “We haven’t been contacted yet by those involved in the project, so we’re not sure if the original creators will have a saying word. ”
So LuckyChap is developing the movie with Robbie in the producer position, though we don’t know yet whether or not Robbie will play in the movie. For now, Robbie has signed on to produce I, Tonya, Terminal, Dreamland, and Birds of Prey films, also playing in each production, so he is expected to appear on the screen and in Tank Girl.
The first Tank Girl movie premiered in 1995 and starred Lori Petty in the lead role. Created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett, Tank Girl tells the story of Rebecca Buck, a woman who drives and lives in a tank.
