Netflix announces new limited series. It is about “Zero Day”, starring Robert De Niro. The production also marks his first television series, for which he is also an executive producer.
The new limited series Zero Day, a conspiracy thriller from creator/executive producer Eric Newman, is in its partnership with Grand Electric Productions and Netflix. Noah Oppenheim also joins as Creator/Executive Producer.
“Zero Day,” starring Robert De Niro, starts with the question we’ve all been thinking about—how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one that’s seemingly being torn apart by forces beyond our control? And in an age full of conspiracy theories, how many of these forces are produced by our own actions, perhaps even our own imaginations?
The genre of the series is drama and it has 6 episodes.
Pulitzer Prize winner Michael S. Schmidt also serves as creator and executive producer along with Jonathan Glickman (“Wednesday,” “Respect”).
Co-creator, writer, and executive producer Eric Newman is a film and television veteran. “I’m a big fan of Robert De Niro. To have him as a production partner and part of the cast on this series is beyond my wildest dreams. As for Lesli Linka Glatter, she directed so many of my favorite episodes of television. He was our first choice to direct this production. I’m grateful to Netflix for their continued trust and support, and I’m excited to be working with the amazing team of Noah, Lesli, and Jonathan on this current (and terrifying) series,” he said of the Zero Day production.
Noah Oppenheim credited Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Michael S. Schmidt and the “stories that kept him up at night” as his inspiration. He added: “To see this twisted thriller come to life, starring the legendary Robert De Niro, is more than we could have hoped for.”
