RoboCop returns

Like many other classic SF and action productions, RoboCop is recalled (and not for the first time) to the public and hopefully sits on the line for future box office successes. According to theplaylist.com, RoboCop Returns has found its director. The one who will replace Neill Blomkamp (District 9) – retired to handle one of his projects – is Abe Forsythe (Little Monsters).

RoboCop Returns will be a direct sequel to the 1987 film (RoboCop, directed by Paul Verhoeven). The duo, who worked on the original film (Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner), assisted by Justin Rhodes (Terminator: Dark Fate), will take care of the story.

Verhoeven’s film (in which police officer Alex Murphy is brought back to life as a mega-corporate robot after being killed by a gang of criminals) was followed in 2014 by another RoboCop, with Joel Kinnaman in the central role, film but that was not enjoyed too much appreciation from the critics.
