The Cinematographic Universe Marvel seems to have been revived with the success of Shazam! And Warner Bros. has all the reasons to maintain the relaxed tone of DC movies, so the announcement of starting work on Shazam 2 is not a surprise.
Henry Gayden, the screenwriter of the first movie, has already begun the sequel. It is to be expected that much of the central cast will return with Zachary Levy as the hero and Asher Angel as the young Billy Batson, who has the ability to turn into the hero. David F. Sandberg will most likely return to the director’s seat.
Shazam! had a debut of nearly $160 million in the international box office and was largely well received by critics. If the Black Adam movie, which has been recently told to start filming next year (and which will be central to Dwayne Johnson), will be launched in a timely fashion, we could see Shazam confronting the sequel with the one who equals its powers.
