After – along with Venom – they successfully launched on the big screen the series of characters from the Marvel Universe and after regaining control of the rights of the Spider-Man character, immediately after the unsuccessful attempt to sign an agreement with Disney, Sony President and CEO of the company , Tony Vinciquerra, told the Variety publication the future plans of the spider-hero studio.
In addition to confirming plans to integrate Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the common universe already populated by Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius, Vinciquerra has touched on the studio’s ambitions for the new character, revealing that there is at least one “Five or six” series in development related to the spider-man universe.
Last year, Sony turned to Phil Lord and Chris Miller, makers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, to oversee the development of the Spider-Man universe for TV. The two said last month that “it will take a while until everything is connected”, however, suggesting that “we hope to find out in the next few months where we will be placed and what the work schedule will be”.
The Spiderman series links studio rights to hundreds of characters, which means that Lord and Miller have the potential to choose potential serial projects. What could be the characters in Spiderman with the highest potential for television? Or are we still sorry about the end of the Spider-Man in the MCU?
