Taking Waititi of the fourth part of Warner Bros.’s “Thor” franchise will stop filming the “Akira” adaptation indefinitely.
The studio hopes to resume production “Akira” with Waititi as a director once he finishes filming “Thor 4”.
“Thor: Ragnarok,” the third part about the Prince of Asgard (portrayed by Chris Hemsworth), has become a huge success that has generated $ 854 million internationally.
Hemsworth could take on the role of God of Thunder in the fourth franchise. Marvel and Disney have not yet announced a release date.
Waititi has recently directed “Jojo Rabbit” for Fox Searchlight, a satire about a boy whose mother hosts a Jew who is hiding from the Nazis. Waititi interprets his boyfriend’s imagined boyfriend, Adolf Hitler. The film will be released on October 18th.
Taika Waititi’s film credits include “Boy,” “Hunt for the Wilderpeople,” and “What We Do in the Shadows” directed by Jemaine Clement. He also directed the pilot episode of the new FX series “What We Do in the Shadows”.
In “Thor: Ragnarok,” he is the Korg character and resumed his role in “Avengers: Endgame”.
