John Turturro prepares a spin-off of the classic noir comedy The Big Lebowski (1998), which will follow the adventures of Jesus Quintana (The Jesus).
According to movieweb.com, the film will be called The Jesus Rolls and will be central to Turturro, who will also deal with screenplay and direction. The launch was announced for next year.
“It seems to me that it is time to launch such an unconventional film about the stupidity of the man who is trying unsuccessfully to understand and assimilate the mysterious female charm,” he said.
The film will tell the story of a trio of socially inappropriate, whose irreverent and sexually tense relationship will turn into a surprising love story. When they come into conflict with an armed hairdresser they become fugitives.
Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou, Jon Hamm, and Susan Sarandon are also casting the movie.
