The third chapter of the saga, John Wick, has already had the first projections, and critics have unisonously declared in their Twitter messages that the film is rising to the level of the first two adventures of the popular assassin series.
In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, things turn against the protagonist who is now hunted for violating the rules of The Continental and killing people on the neutral territory of the assassin tag. A reward was placed on his head and the protection provided by the organization operating on the named territory was lifted. Not having much choice, Wick has to look for unusual allies and rely on his deadly skills that made him a legend. Together with Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne and Lance Reddick, we will see Anjelica Huston, Asia Kate Dillon and Halle Berry in the film.
“If you want more John Wick, the third party will give you what you expect to receive. More stunning fights (the Casablanca sequence is … wow!), More of the “folklore” of assassins, more dogs (a big plus!), “Writes Terry Schwartz of IGN.com.
“John Wick 3 is great. Some of the action scenes are so crazy that you will wonder if even director Chad Stahelski and his team have filmed them. Being emphasized, I would also say that the sequence with Halle Berry and Keanu Reeves in which dogs appear is my favorite. You will see why! Especially if you like dogs … “, said Steven Wentraub of Collider.com.
Hoai-Tran Bui, from SlashFilm.com, believes that the film falls into the purely visceral sphere of cinema: “After the considerable expansion of the franchise world in Chapter 2, Chapter 3 returns with a slightly simpler yet impressive story , full of action, tough fighting and even some humor. The first 30 minutes kept me in a fantastic tension. The film is great. ”
“John Wick 3 is action at the highest odds. Raise the franchise bar and add a new dimension to John Wick’s universe. Asia Kate Dillon, Halle Berry and Mark Dacascos are all great new figures added to the series. In addition, the movie may contain one of my favorite murder scenes, “says Brent Goldman of FilmInquiry.com.
But Mike Rougeau, from GameSpot.com, was of the opinion that “some things will be controversial” and that “he is not convinced that everything makes sense.” And Terri Schwartz made a similar comment in a later message, but any kind of inaccuracies in the scenario or character motivation would have detected them, it seems they did not affect much the good impression the movie left. Schwartz even said he would go to “an inevitable Chapter 4” of the series.
Keanu Reeves has stated on several occasions willing to appear in possible follow-ups, despite the fact that many considered John Wick to be a trilogy.
