Preacher is inspired by the famous eponymous cartoons, signed by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, published by Vertigo Comics about a Texas town preacher, Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), owned by Genesis, the most powerful entity in the universe. Genesis gives Jesse the power to control through speech so that anyone who hears his voice does what Jesse asks. Angry that the world is unfair, Jesse begins – along with his girlfriend, Tulip – a search for God to ask for explanations.
In season 4, Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy, in God’s desperate search, enter into a battle between Heaven, Hell and everything in between … With Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) in the hands of the Grail Organization and ready to be tortured, Tulip (Ruth Negga) gets the mission to release him. And, while Jesse (Dominic Cooper) is also trying, he is more interested in confronting the Almighty (Mark Harelik), and asking him to account because he has abandoned humanity.
