From the announcement that Amazon will produce a series based on the Lord of the Rings universe, fans have been waiting for project news. The only information released said that the adaptation will be broadcast only in 2021, and the action will be placed in the Second Ea of the Middle Earth before the events of the Brotherhood.
However, according to Variety.com, the series now has an attached director, and another one with weight. J.A. Bayona, known for Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom, Monster Calls, The Impossible, and The Orphanage, has signed a contract that puts him in charge of the first two episodes of the show, alongside his executive producer.
Producers have five Lord of the Rings seasons planned for about $ 1 billion.
Lord of the Rings Series, by J.R.R. Tolkien, screened between 2001 and 2003 and won 17 Oscar statues, including Peter Jackson and The Return of the King. Three further films – The Hobbit Premiere Series – released between 2012 and 2014 were subsequently produced.
