After nearly 40 years of testing, The Sandman, Neil Gaiman’s novel, published by DC / Vertigo Comics, has found its way to production. The project was acquired by the Netflix streaming platform, and thehollywoodreporter.com will mark the most expensive serial ever produced by DC Entertainment (Warner Bros. Company).

The Sandman is a mix of horror, fantasy, and mythology, and tells the story of Morfeu, the Master of Dreams, and the Endless, a powerful group of Destiny, Death, Destruction, Desperation, Desire, Delir, and Vis. It is considered the masterpiece of Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Stardust, Coraline, Good Omens) – one of the best graphic novels of all time.

Warner Bros. has attempted to turn into a complex film world of the novel, but after the last attempt, 2013-2016 (involving Joseph Gordon-Levitt and screenwriter Eric Heisserer), it was concluded that the most appropriate format is of the TV series.

The screenwriter Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman) will now deal with the project. Gaiman will occupy the manufacturer’s chair with David S. Goyer.
