The race to choose a new director for Venom 2 has been extended, but there are signs that Sony has already made the choice and an only official confirmation is needed. That’s after an apparent snort of Tom Hardy, the protagonist of last year’s movie, who recently posted on his Instagram account an image with Andy Serkis, to delete it an hour later.
Serkis was even given by Sony’s favorite for the sequel, which announced a few days ago that negotiations are still underway. Famous for the motion capture roles in the Lord of the Rings (Gollum) and Planet of the Apes (Caesar) series, Serkis has gone on to direct in 2017 and has titles like the romantic drama Breath (starring Andrew Garfield), the television production The Ruins of Empires and the movie Netflix Mowgli.
The first Venom movie had international revenues of $ 856 million, at a production budget of $ 100 million. Director Ruben Fleischer, who directed him, was also asked to continue but declined the offer earlier this year to deal with Zombieland: Double Tap.
